Today is Vasil Bykau’s 84th anniversary
June 19 is the 84th anniversary of a Belarusian people’s writer Vasil Bykau (1924-2003). The administration of the Union of Belarusian Writers and of the Belarusian Pen-Centre will lay flowers to his grave in the Eastern (Moscow) Cemetery in Minsk together with his relatives and friends.
Moreover, an event organized by Vasil Bykau’s relatives and friends (in particular, a Belarusian people’s poet Ryhor Baradulin will attend it) will take place in the people’s writer’s home village of Bychki in Ushatski District of Vitsebsk Region.
The programme will consist of performances organized by writers and artists, visiting the Museum House of Vasil Bykau, a presentation of a documentary “Ada’s Geallery” by a producer Uladzimir Kolas and a concert of Belarusian bards.
