Teacher in Vitsebsk cons children for Br52mn in order to repay loans

An unusual criminal case was opened against a teacher who headed a club of intellectual games in Vitsebsk. The woman would organize tours for teenagers to Italy and the Czech Republic but take 10-15 euros more than the package cost from every child.

Apart from teaching, the 54-year-old woman had her own business.

She took several loans in order to develop her business but eventually had no money to repay them.

She decided to use the money collected from 27 children and 8 adults -- allegedly for the next tour -- to repay her loan debts.

She managed to raise Br52 million!

The woman has been charged with swindling and is facing from three to twelve years in prison if convicted.
