Suzdaltsev: Belarus cannot buy Russia

Belarus cannot buy Russia with the recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, says political analyst Andrei Suzdaltsev.
Suzdaltsev says that the Poles will not block negotiations on a new partnership accord between the EU and Russia, as Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikoski said in Brussels.

However, Suzdaltsev says that the EU has no muscle to against Russia. "Poland successfully and unsuccessfully gets into the real problems of Russia and the EU. It uses its agenda and get a result. This is not leverage. This is called using the moment," he said.

He notes that Belarus has noting to offer Russia. "The Russian agenda lacks an item on the recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Russia will not put pressure in Belarus over the issue," he noted.

Suzdaltsev is skeptical about a possible dialogue of Belarus and the EU.

"There are several factors that make me to take it easy, firstly the factor of Lukashenka. We all know the man and how difficult it is to make a deal with him," he said.
