Supreme Court judge Mikalai Babkou has been fired ‘for a fault incompatible with the state service,’the National Legal Portal reports.

Mikalai Babkou became a Supreme Court judge on January 23, 1997. He routinely presided at the hearings to consider complaints filed by opposition activists that he usually rejected. He rejected the appeal of the Union of Leftist Parties that was complaining about the Ministry of Justice's refusal to register it in 2007.  Tell the Truth! campaign received the same response in 2011. Babkou considered a complaint lodged by the United Civil Party in 2017. The opposition party had appealed against the warning issued by the Ministry of Justice. Babkou’s decision was in favour of the Ministry of Justice.
