Suicide case in Pinsk under Interior Minister’s control

The case of the 20-year-old resident of Pinsk who jumped out of a police department window and died, has been personally overseen by the Belarus Minister of Interior, Uladzimir Navumau.

The minister ordered the regional police authorities to identify the circumstances of the accident.

On January 22, a young man, detained by the local police for having allegedly stolen a mobile phone, jumped out of the interrogation room’s window.

Police later found a suicidal note in his pocket. According to Minister Navumau, a similar accident took place last year in the town of Bjaroza.

If police staff is to be found guilty, their bosses will be punished, too, the minister said.
