STD on rise among Belarus teens

The number of syphilis patients have gone up almost threefold in the city of Baranavichy from 18 cases in 2007 up to 31 this year. Doctors are concerned that the hidden forms of the disease that first hit the nervous system, sight and ears are becoming common. There has been also an increase in the number of honorea patients with 142 cases registered this year against 108 in 2007, including 10 teenage girls between 14 and 18 years old. Patients admit that they had dozens of sexual partners and unprotected sex within one year.
