Statkevich, Lyabedzka and Nyaklyayeu get fined for unauthorized actions

Minsk Central District Court has fined Mikola Statkevich for the organization of an unauthorized picket near Minsk Town Hall in Freedom Square. The ex-political prisoner will have to pay 50 base amounts for it (Br9 million). The action was held on September 23.

Statkevich stood trial in absentia, BELTA reports. He received a subpoena by post and an SMS. It is the politician’s second fine within a month – he also has to pay Br10 million for his unauthorized picket held near GUM on September 10.

 

Ex-presidential candidate and ex-political prisoner Uladzimir Nyaklyayau and leader of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka’s cases were also considered in court. They were returned guilty of organizing the actions held on September 10 and 23. Nyaklyayeu was fined for 30 base amounts (Br5.4 million) and Lyabedzka – for 40 base amounts (Br7.2 million).
