Stanislau Shushkevich (first leader of independent Belarus) has been fined for Br6.3 million in Minsk. Minsk Central District Court judge Victoria Shabunya has returned him guilty of participation in an unauthorized action, BelaPAN reports. He was using a loudspeaker and ‘was shouting out mottoes’, witnesses from the police said.

The constituent assembly of the Belarusian National Congress was held in Yanka Kupala Park because the organizers had not been allowed to rent a room for it. The police drew up a few dozen administrative reports against its participants. Some of the activists are standing trials in the Belarusian capital today.
