Solidarity action participants detained in downtown Minsk (photo)

The detainees have been held in Minsk's Central District Police Department. United Civic Party leader Anatol Liabedzka was beaten to blood.
The traditional action of solidarity (with the relatives of the disappeared opposition politicians and political prisoners) ended two minutes after the beginning with the beatings and detentions of participants.

Initially, a police officer warned the participants of the action about the responsibility for taking part in "an unauthorized event". Later, riot police troops circled the participants. Shortly after, police buses arrived and the detainees were pushed inside.

Aleh Hulak, chairman of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, told the European Radio for Belarus that some 20 people were detained. They were taken to the Central District Police Department.

Charter'97 human rights group has named Zmitser Barodka, Pavel Yukhnecvich, Aleh Ladutska, Aliaksei Syanchyla, Palina Dziakava, Maksim Serhiyts, Mikola Statkevich, Andrei Krechka, Mikhail Pashkevich, Nasta Palazhenka and Mikola Dzemidzenka as those detained. United Civic Party chairman Anatol Liabedzka was beaten to blood. He was also detained on October Square in central Minsk.
