Sociologists: the majority of Belarusians want integration with EU rather than Russia

More than half Belarusians are against the creation of a union state.  This is the result of a survey conducted by the Institute for Strategic Research.
An Internet edition “Salidarnast” notes that there are more adherents of integration of Belarus into the European Union among Belarusians rather than those who would like to integrate with Russia. Almost 55% of pollees were against the creation of a union state of Belarus and Russia with a common currency, President and Parliament. Only 20% of pollees voted “pro”.

However, there are more than 33% of adherents of integration with the European Union. However, even more pollees (41.2%) think that our country should not become an EU member state. The most popular idea (74.1% of pollees) was the fact that Belarus should remain an independent state.
