Social March to take place in Minsk on Nov 4

The Social March will take place in Minsk on November 4. The rally is expected to proceed from the October square to the building of the National Library, said Valery Ukhnaleu, the chairman of the organizing committee.  The Social March is not just one-off event, "it is a series of actions within a long period of time,": he said.

Ukhnaleu described it as the beginning of a campaign aimed at changing the social policy of the Belarusian state. On September 30, the United Pro-Democracy Forces plan to stage over 300 "social" pickets across Belarus.

On October 2, the opposition plans to submit the collected signatures against the abolition of social benefits to the Belarusian lawmakers, reports Belapan.
