Sikorski and Bildt not to visit Minsk

After reading Radoslaw Sikorski and Karl Bildt’s joint letter published the other day, one could think that they would visit Minsk: “We will visit the capitals of EaP member states before the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius together with other officials: Kishinau, Tbilisi, Baku, Yerevan and Minsk.”

However, this is not true, Polish Embassy adviser Sebastian Ozhel told Euroradio:

“You could think so after reading the text. But it means that they (Sikorski and Bildt – Euroradio) and other diplomats from Poland and Sweden will visit these states. To cut is short, they will not come here.”

However, Yaroslaw Bratkevich and Torbjörn Sulstrom from the Polish and Swedish Ministries of Foreign affairs and authorized representatives of the Eastern Partnership Affairs Beata Penksa (Poland) and Martin Hogstrom (Sweden) and deputy head of the Eastern department of the Polish Ministry of Foreign affairs Konrad Paulik will arrive in Minsk on October 24.

The diplomats are planning meetings in the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is not clear whether they are going to meet representatives of the civil society. However, they will organize a briefing for journalists on October 25.
