Sergei Matskevich submits Brussels Forum proposals to EU officials

The forum of the civic society has closed in Brussels. Representatives from 27 NGOs from Belarus were among over 200 participants. Belarus representatives note that our delegation was very organized and active. The Belarus delegation stood out among other member states of the Eastern Partnership. Public activist Sergei Matskevich presented the proposals that were passed during the sessions on November 16-17 on behalf of the Forum to European officials. Sweden's foreign minister Carl Bildt, EUs's Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Mario Sappi, the president of the European Economic and Social Center wrapped up the event.

In an interview with the European Radio for Belarus, Matskevich shared his impressions on the Forum.

Sergei Matskevich: "My impression is that the chance that was declared when the Eastern Partnership was founded has remained a chance that we can use to boost the role of the civil society in the country in the first place. We also have a very important feeling of responsibility".

According to Sergei Matskevich, a meeting will take place on November 19 in Minsk for NGOs when the delegates from Belarus at the Forum will brief other NGOs about future plans and the results reached in Brussels.
