“Self-defense committees” appear in Barysau, Svetlahorsk and Slutsk

Belarusian entrepreneurs have started creating “self-defense” committees at markets in different regions of the country.
They have already been created in Barysau, Svetlahorsk and Slutsk. According to the leader of the civil campaign “For free development of entrepreneurs” Victar Harbachou, the committees help settle down conflicts and warn sellers about sudden check-ups leading to confiscation of goods.

Entrepreneurs complain that tax and sanitary inspectorates, the police and some other services that got the right to control the trade at markets have started performing mass check-ups since August 10. They immediately confiscate goods that do not have sanitary and compliance certificates.

Harbachou calls it repressions. According to him, it is impossible to get the certificates in state departments even after a week so entrepreneurs work without the documents.
