Sarkozy is against accepting Turkey to EU

The French President Nicolas Sarkozy confirmed that he was against accepting Turkey to the European Union. After the meeting with the head of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso Sarkazy noted that negotiations with Ankara about it were impossible until EU structures were reformed.

The head of the EU Commission urged Sarkozy to help reach the compromise in this issue.

Negotiations about accepting Turkey to the EU were suspended after the country refused to open its air and sea ports for the Republic of Cyprus that is an EU member.
