Street patrols were part of the activities under a series of measures codenamed "Safe Vacations" and implemented between December 20, 2017 and January 8, 2018. The document was approved by deputy head of Minsk Region Executive Committee Viktar Sirenka. Teachers particularly dislike the activities to be performed at night. Teachers and parents’ patrols have to work at night and visit places frequented by teenagers (night clubs, cafes, etc.). They also patrol streets to register violations of the road rules by children.

Moreover, teachers do not understand why they have to organize mass visits to hockey matches either.

Deputy head of the social and educational department of Minsk Region Executive Committee Iryna Sadouskaya has commented on this information as follows: “The activities ‘Safe Vacations’ are recommended, nobody is forced to participate. Teachers and parents’ patrols have always existed but they work until 22-23 p.m. Furthermore, such activities are rather rare. Nobody is asking teachers to patrol streets either – this is being done by heads of educational institutions.”
