Russian gas to become $13-14 cheaper for Belarus

A new three-year contract with Gazprom may be signed next week, BELTA quotes Belarusian senior vice PM Uladzimir Syamashka.

According to him, the new contract will hardly differ from the previous one. The cost of Russian gas will slightly decrease for Belarus because the Russian rouble exchange rate has gone down, the official added. Gas costs about $168 for 1000 cubic meters for Belarus now. It will cost $154-155, the senior vice PM said.

According to Syamashka, Belarus will get about 22 billion cubic metres of gas a year. The amount may be higher by 5% or lower by 10%.

The current contract with Gazprom will expire on December 31, 2014.
