Russian credits to be spent on Belarusian nuclear power construction

The construction of the Belarusian nuclear power pant will also be financed with the help of Russian credits. The Russian Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov has informed about it at a press conference. He also reminded that the necessary agreements had been reached during the meetings of the Belarusian vice Prime Minister Uladzimir Syamashka and the head of the state corporation “Rosatom” Sergei Kiriyenko.

Let us remind you that a nuclear power station of two 1 thousand megawatt units is planned to be built in Belarus. It will have water-moderated reactors. The construction is supposed to start at the end of 2009. The project will cost about $4-6 billion.

The first Belarusian nuclear power plant will be built in Astravetsk District of Hrodna Region.
