Russia lifts restrictions on Belarus's meat exports

The Russian Federation has removed restrictions from the imports of Belarus-produced meat, following the completion of tests by the Russian sanitary authorities at Belarusian butcheries.  "We have reached a full understanding", Belarus's Deputy Agriculture Minister Mikhail Savelyeu commented on the situation over Belarus's meat exports. “Presently, there is no precise restriction as regards the volume of exports," he said.

Nevertheless, Belarus-made meat products are subjected to rigid inspections before they can be exported to Russia.

The growth of meat exports to Russia will definitely push up the prices in Belarus, reports Mir TV company. Some groceries in Belarus have already reported the shortage of sausages.

The Belarusian government describes the shortage as a temporary problem.
