Radio Liberty journalist Aleh Hruzdzilovic was detained in Minsk for... stepping on the traffic way of Independence Avenue, restricted only to asphalt watering vehicles during the unauthorized opposition-staged street action titled "National Flag Avenue" on May 14 in Kastrycnickaja Square in central Minsk. The journalist was taking photographs of the moment when communal services workers were removing a white-red-white flag from a flag-stick.
A traffic police inspector approached Hruzdzilovic near the entrance to the undepassage close to Metro Kastrycnickaja station, checked his accreditation with Belarusian MFA and his passport and told him to come with him for inquiry.
Hruzdzilovic was taken to Hotel d'Europe. Police wrote a ticket for violating the moving rules, reports Radio Liberty.
