Yarmoshyna: 16 constituencies are uncontested
The number increased after UCP and BPF Party candidates had withdrawn.
Only Minsk and Vitsebsk Province have no uncontested constituencies, CEC chairperson noted.
"It is not good to have uncontested constituencies - it will not benefit the election in any way", - BelTA quotes Yarmoshyna.
The CEC chairperson has stressed that the election will fail in uncontested constituencies if the existing candidates fail to score at least 50% of votes.
The early voting has begun today, on September 18. September 23 is the election day. There are 294 candidates remaining now, Yarmoshyna said.
