Three Belarusians sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment in Libya

Let us remind you that Libyan insurgents detained 25 Belarusian citizens in August 2011. All of them were accused of repairing the defense technology that was used by the Gaddafi regime “to eliminate the Libyan people”. The detained claim that they were hired for oil exploration.

The Belarusians, Russians and Ukrainians have been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonments with correctional works today. The Russian who was accused of coordinating the group has been sentenced to the life-time imprisonment, informs RIA Novosti.

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed last week that four citizens of our country were in custody in Libya. One of them has not been officially accused yet. It is unknown at the moment whether he will stand trial.
