Syarhei Kavalenka asks brother: “Where is opposition?”

Let us remind you that Syarhei Kavalenka is sentenced to 25 months in a colony for violating “the home penal labour regime” (he was sentenced to it for having hoisted a white-red-white flag on the main New Year’s Tree in Vitsebsk). He has been on hunger-strike with little breaks in prison since December 2011.

Vital Kavalenka has informed that Syarhei could hardly come to meet him – he could hardly stand up and “he looked very bad, his health condition was critical’. That’s what Syarhei told him:

"They have been giving him injections since two days ago. They tie his arms and legs to the bed to do it… Eight policemen enter his cell when they are giving him injections. There are doctors too”.

According to Syarhei’s brother, the prisoner’s health condition has aggravated after the injections. His kidneys ached the whole night. He asked Vital: “Where is the opposition? Why haven’t they conducted any actions near the detention centre like I asked them to?”

Syarhei Kavalenka says that he keeps received from 5 to 10 postcards from the same address every day. The authors are asking him to stop the hunger-strike. But he is not going to stop it and keeps demanding a house arrest so that he could recover after the hunger-strike.
