Sepultura in Minsk – for those over 30

While some people were happy because their God had arisen, others were having fun to the music of the band whose name meant “grave”.

Minsk has been included in Sepultura’s tour again. The musicians presented their previous album “A-Lex” to Belarusians three years ago. The Brazilians have tried out their twelfth disc “Kairos” in a club in Minsk this year.  The album is entitled in honour of the ancient Greek god of the supreme moment.

The organizers invited everyone to come at 6 p.m. but Sepultura appeared on the stage only at about 9 p.m. The present were hanging out in the bar during the opening act and when technical issues were being solved for three hours.

By the way, those who were chilling out in the street had an opportunity to meet Sepultura. A minibus approached the entrance to the club and Derrick Green and Andreas Kisser appeared. They greeted the fans and passed the face control accompanied by guards.

The concert of Sepultura reminded a party for those over 30. The Brazilians’ fans changed their black T-shirts and put on jackets, had gown bellies and even brought their teenage children to the concert. Many people kept standing near the WC after the opening act and during the concert – they were nostalgic and kept smoking. The men were recalling their trips to the concert of Iron Maiden in Moscow and dreamt of going to listen to Ozzy Osbourne together.

Sepultura started with the old hits and the audience welcomed it. The crowd was roaring happily and even joined in some songs. “Old” heavy metal fans left their tables and put off jackets.

Paulo Xisto Pinto, Jr.  - the only remaining original member of Sepultura.

For many people Sepultura is all about Max Cavalera. However, Derrick Green has been singing in the band for two years more than Max.

When the hit part of the concert was over and the band started singing their new songs, Euroradio met frontman of “Znich” Ales Tabolich. “I don’t believe!” – shouted the singer of “I’m a pagan” towards the stage. It turned out that Ales did not believe in Sepultura’s success without both Cavaleras (the other brother had left the band in 2006) and in new literature albums. Indeed, many of those who enjoyed “Roots” back in the 90s feel the lack its ethnic motives now.
