Sentence to be passed on former Liberian President in Hague today

The Special Court for Sierra Leone in The Hague accuses former Liberian President Charles Taylor of an outrage on humanity. He is accused of abetting the rebels of the neighbouring country who went on a bloody rampage, reports the BBC.

The prosecution claims that the rebels sent diamonds to Taylor and his trusted people in acknowledgment of the support.

By the way, Taylor is the first former head of state convicted by an international war crimes court since 1945.
