Rybakou not appoited as director of "Alpha Radio"

The information that the ex-head of the Belarusian State TV and Radio Company Yahor Rybakou was appointed as a director of "Alpha Radio" has not been confirmed. Acting Director of the radio-station Yauhen Uryuski has told Euroradio that these are rumours, which, however, have certain grounds.

Yauhen Uryuski: "This person has not been appointed. People spoke about this [about Rybakou's appointment as "Alpha Radio"head - Euroradio], I also heard this, but it hasn't happened yet. Nothing has been confirmed in the documents: a director has not been appointed, a contract with him has not been signed".

Yauhen Uryuski doesn't know when the contract with the new director will be signed and whether it will happen at all.

Let us remind you, Yahor Rybakou got the position of the BT head right after the presidential election - 2001. In February 2005, the Supreme Court sentenced Rybakou to 11 years of imprisonment in a reinforced-security colony with property confiscation. He was accused of bribery and exceeding the official powers with an aim to legalize the money, obtained by illegal means.

In February 2010, the ex-head of the Belarusian State TV and Radio Company was released pre-term. Rybakou used to head a TV-studio in the colony.
