Russia may hinder hockey championship in Belarus
It may be cancelled due to lack of viewers' interest caused by the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Russian journalists think that the Sochi Olympics may be a reason to change the whole concept of the 2014 ice Hockey championship in Minsk, Izvestiya reports. The International Ice Hockey Federation may even cancel the world championship.
The administration of the Russian Hockey Federation says that the issue was discussed at the IIFH congress. Many countries suggested cancelling the championship or making it Europe only as the USA and Canada are unlikely to send their teams there.
Belarus is hoping that the world championship will not be cancelled and is only concerned about the possible boycott. The European Parliament suggested the boycott.
