Ramanchuk denies rumours that he would run for President

On September 24, the web-site of the Arabian TV-channel Al Jazeera informed that Ramanchuk was going to run for President in 2015 and intended to unite the opposition. Yaraslau Ramanchuk told BelaPAN that he had indeed met with the Al Jazeera camera crew - they arrived to Minsk to cover the parliamentary election. However, the journalists misinterpreted the meaning of what he said, probably, to make a sensation, the economist says. Ramanchuk assures that he only told that 2015 was still a long way to come and that anything might happen.

At present, the ex-presidential candidate says, he does some analytical work, writes books and is not going to change anything in the near future.

The ex-presidential candidate was arrested at night after the dispersal of the demonstration on December 19, 2010. On December 20, Ramanchuk made a speech on the state TV, and accused other oppositionists. He explained later that he was disoriented.
