Number of metro terrorist act victims reaches 15

As Euroradio has found out, Andrei Illin injured in the terrorist act in Minsk metro has died at 11 a.m. today, on May 25. The victim’s wife, Natallya, has informed about it.

Natallya Іl'іna: “He has died today… At 11 o’clock”.

Doctor Andrei Illin was deputy chief physician of Minsk emergency hospital. He dedicated 10 years of his life to medicine and saving people’s lives. He worked as a doctor’s assistant when he was a student and became a doctor after he had graduated from Belarusian State Medical University.

Andrei Illin told doctors that he worked in the emergency hospital after the blast but did not confess that he was one of its chiefs and asked them to save other people.

Andrei was getting of a train at “October” station at the moment of the explosion on April 11. He was returning home, to his wife, son and little daughter just like hundreds of other passengers.

Andrei was delivered to military hospital in a serious condition after the blast. He had numerous injuries but the most dangerous ones were the injuries his eyes. The doctor’s friends and colleagues organized a fund-raising campaign because they thought that Andrei Illin would need to be operated on his eyes abroad.

Andrei Illin underwent an operation in Minsk a few weeks ago. He was undergoing postoperative rehabilitation that was needed to make a decision about the further treatment.
