Nuclear security to be discussed in Kyiv today

Among the participants of the conference there are President of Ukraine Victar Yanukovich, the U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland, the European Commissioner for development Andris Piebalgs, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano, and the Regional Director of the World Health Organization Zsuzsanna Jakab.

The events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Chernobyl catastrophe are conducted in Kyiv on April 19-22. In particular, the Cnernobyl donor conference took place on Tuesday. The Ukrainian authorities collected about 550 million euros so far after this conference. On the whole, Ukraine lacks 740 million euros to build an object called "Refuge" at the Chernobyl NPP. However, Ukrainian authorities will continue collecting donations for implementation of "Chernobyl" projects, as such countries as Italy, Canada, Brazil, Mexico and Bulgaria are still undecided with regard to their participation in "Chernobyl" projects,  RIA Novosti informs.
