Lukashenka: We are failing the Olympics by now
The state leader spoke about Belarus' participation in the Olympics in London in Astravets district today.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka stressed that too few medals have been won (at that time - 10, and the plan was 25). According to him, the Belarusian sports have enough problems, not the whole potential is used, there are claims against the coaches, the athletes and the organizers.
The state leader said that "the modern sport drowned in corruption." He cited the examples from the current Olympic Games, including expel from the competition of the Belarusian hammer thrower Ivan Tsikhan. Lukashenka said that the International Olympic Committee officials pretend that they don’t notice these problems.
"That's what today sport is - it's not politics, it's dirt and corruption
in all possible areas. I cannot even publicly talk about all the facts that I
know. But I think that I will have an opportunity (if not in England, then in
another country), to tell those functionaries all that I am telling you
