Interpol knew Mikhalevich's case was politically motivated 6 months ago

This has been informed by tvn24.pl with a reference to the Poland's police administration. Let us remind you, Ales Mikhalevich was detained in the Warsaw airport in December 2011 because he was in the Interpol's list. He got there upon the enquiry made by the Belarusian authorities after he had escaped from the country. The political refugee was released only when Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs interfered.

However, it turned out that the Interpol knew that the Belarusian authorities were in search for Mikhalevich due to political reasons back in Summer 2011. Thus, the enquiry should have been declined then. Polish journalists tried to find out why the information from France failed to reach Poland. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs only states that Poland's representative cannot meet with the Interpol's bosses for two months by now.

Polish police claim that the Interpol's administrative board sent the information about the political grounds of Mikhalevich's case only to the Minsk bureau of the organization, not to all the 188 countries-members.
