The hurricane will hit the states of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, Reuters reports. Power lines are being destroyed by the wind and falling trees. Power supply has been suspended in the flooded areas. Several subway stations have been flooded in New York, the public transport is at a standstill and schools and official institutions have been closed.
At least 13 people have been killed in the USA and Canada. One man has been killed by a falling tree, CNN reports. The wall of a high-rise building has collapsed in Manhattan.
The public transport is not functioning in the capital of the United States, there are hardly any cars in the streets, the airports are closed. It keeps raining and the wind is getting stronger. The biggest flood in the past 15 years is expected there.
A blast at a power plant in New York affected by Sandy has been registered.
