House of Representatives adopts law on amnesty in two readings at a time
Minister of Internal Affairs, General-Mayor of Police Ihar Shunevich presented the draft bill to the members of the House of Representatives.
According to the Minister's words quoted
by BELTA, the amnesty will have no negative consequences as it
is used with regard to those who recompensed the damage, repented etc.
Shunevich also said that the empty spaces in prisons would not be filled by the
new prisoners at once.
On
the whole, it is expected that the amnesty will cover about 7 600 people, it is
planned to release about 2 thousand of them directly from prisons.
Let
us remind you, no political prisoners will be released under the amnesty.
