Estonia condemns violent measures against opposition in Minsk

"Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is deeply concerned by the events which took place in Minsk after the presidential election. We have already declared our position in public, it is also available at the Ministry's web-site. We are especially worried about the health condition and destiny of the detained, including the presidential candidates", — stated in the message.

The press-center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia has published the following statement at the web-site: "Estonia condemns violent measures against the opposition which started after the presidential election. Estonia calls on the Belarusian authorities to be reserved and considers the fact that force was used against the demonstrants, opposition presidential candidates and their adherents, very sad, and also condemns arrests of human rights activists and journalists. Such behaviour of the authorities contradicts democratic values, and the Belarusian authorities must release all the illegally detained".
