EP President urges to release Zmitser Bandarenka

Jerzy Buzek said this on air to the radio-station Polskie Radio on July 24. According to tthe EP President, the authorities' behaviour with regard to Bandarenka is "revolting and inhuman". The prisoner has serious problems with his spine, he needs special consultations and rehabilitation, stated Buzek. 


The politician noted that the European Parliament had supported Belarusians in their efforts towards democracy for many years, BelaPAN reports. 


Let us remind you, Zmitser Bandarenka was sentenced to two years of imprisonment in the framework of the "December 19" case. His health seriously deteriorated in prison. He is supposed to undergo a surgery in the 5th clinic hospital of Minsk on July 26. Before this, they suggested that Bandarenka should choose - surgery or transportation to the colony. They also refused to provide the prisoner a consultation with a brain surgeon.
