Embargo on Belarusian oil products suggested to EU

“Charter’97” informs that Belarus was represented by Iryna Bahdanava, sister of ex-presidential candidate Andrei Sannikau, head of the Belarusian Free Theatre Natallya Kalyada and head of the fund “We Remember” Iryna Krasouskaya.

High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, Secretary General of NATO Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Foreign Minister of Sweden Carl Bildt, Foreign Minister of Poland Radosław Sikorski and other politicians also took part in the forum in Brussels.

Belarus was discussed after Syria in connection with Belarusian arms traffic in that county. Belarus was also mentioned in “The Eastern European Partners: Going West, East, or Nowhere?”. According to Kalyada, Belarusian participants suggested a programme of exercising influence on the official Minsk.

Meanwhile, the dialogue with the official Minsk should only be resumed after the release and acquittal of all political prisoners. Belarusian citizens should get free EU visas. Speaking about economic sanctions, they suggest imposing embargo on Belarusian oil products and recalling Belarusian Ambassadors from the European capitals.
