Diana Arbenina: "We have already recorded the new album"

"Salute, guys!" — called Diana Arbenina from the back, entering the tent at the festival "Rock Za Babrou". She told that her friends in Russia couldn’t believe that there might be a rock-festival in Minsk.

"I am very pleased that Rock'n'Roll is still possible in my Homeland. Trust me, when we told people that we were going to play at a rock festival in Belarus, they told us something like "is it possible there? So I told, if nothing goes wrong, we will be there. Nothing went wrong".

They say you have a grandmother in Barysau. Is it true?

"Yes. I sort of...visited my grandmother today. She has had a very good..cozy grave for about a year by now. So... I was there today. I can say that I was at the place where I spent my childhood and my father was with me. I was born in Valozhyn and lived there for three years. I visited Valozhyn three years ago, a year before my children were born. I felt so overwhelmed with nostalgia that only a little puppy saved me from this - I switched my mind to feeding it".

What has the birth of your children changed in your life?

"I stayed alive. My life used to be like a falling bomber, but they were born and this stopped me somehow".

The reply to the question on the band "Zveri" which got the MuzTV award once again as the best rock band caused applause.

"I don't watch this", — Diana Arbenina replied.

Have you heard about the Belarusian "black lists"?

"Yes I have and I've also heard that we used to be there. I simply don't understand what we are doing here in this case. Maybe, they will transport me back as soon as we finish our conversation?"

Besides, the band "Naka" which also was in the list of prohibited musicians successfully performed on the stage of the "Rock Za Babrou" festival on that day.

Euroradio asks Diana Arbenina what catches attention in the first place in Minsk?

"You know, if you take a white handkerchief which no one practically uses at present time and wipe the avenue with it, I think there won't be any trace. Everything is so clean and sterile. Why sterile? Well, this is the Belarusian reality, everything is so well-constructed and...let us stop on the word "perfect". I think that too many things are prohibited here so it never goes to garbage".

"Do you feel different in the year 2012?" — the journalists asked Arbenina, obviously meaning the mythic Mayan calendar.

"Naturally! We had such a fundamental election this year that everyone surely feels different. I did not vote as it is pointless and useless. Moreover, I was in America with my kids then. However, if I had voted I would have voted for Prokhorov".

"Can a young band survive without a producer?" — some guy, possibly a young musician, asks.

"Don't believe it when they tell you it is impossible to play now. It's possible! There are the same opportunities to play now as in 1993. I cannot say that I had someone who gave me money and promoted us. We did everything by ourselves".

Diana talked a lot about her Homeland and recalled her childhood.

"I visited my granny's grave today. She died at 92. She was the boss of the family and I really miss her. When I came to her grave I understood that it is necessary to take care of oneself.

Belarus is my Homeland. This cannot be changed. It attracts me more and more as I am getting older, regardless of what is happening here. I sleep very well here. I rest here".

So why did you choose Ukraine as a place of residence?

"I am thinking where to escape from Russia".

Probably Belarus?

"Thanks a lot. Bargaining one trouble for another? With pleasure!"

Besides, the new album of the band "Night Snipers" is ready and will be available in Autumn or even earlier: "We have already recorded the new album. The only thing left is that someone would steal and publish it".
