Belarus embassy in Kyrgyzstan arson threat

Human rights defender Andurush Taktanasyrov has promised to pour petrol over the Embassy and set it on fire, BelaPAN reports. He announced it at a meeting opposite the Belarusian Embassy on Thursday.

Bishkek asked the official Minsk to extradite the ex-President many times but the Belarus authorities kept refusing, he said.

"If our demands are not fulfilled, we will have to take radical measures," Taktanasyrov said. He is also going to throw addle eggs at the Embassy.

To prove his intention, Taktanasyrov burnt portraits of Kurmanbek Bakiyev and Alyaksandr Lukashenka in front of the entrance to the Belarusian Embassy.

Bishkek Military Court sentenced Kurmanbek Bakiyev to 24 years in prison and confiscation of property on February 12. His brother Janish Bakiyev was sentenced to life in prison and confiscation of property. Kurmanbek Bakiyev, his unofficial wife and two children settled in Belarus after Lukashenka's personal invitation following the coup d'état in Kyrgyzstan on April 19, 2010.
