Bessmertny: Shatski Lakes destroyed by businessman close to authorities
The former Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus has made a scandalous statement and urged to impose economic sanctions on our country.
He claimed at a press conference dedicated to the threat of extinction of Shatski Lakes and Palesse that Ukraine should exercise influence on Belarus by lodging a complaint to the International Court and calling for economic sanctions.
Let us remind you that Ukraine is worried about Belarus’ plans to work Hatsislau deposit to get chalk in Malaryta District. Experts claim that Shatski Lakes may become shallow because of it. They are situated in Ukraine, about 15 pr 17 km from the pit.
Roman Bessmertny claims that Ukraine cannot reach an agreement with the Belarusian authorities because businessman Yury Chyzh is interested in working Hatsislau deposit. He stresses that the businessman is close to Alyaksandr Lukashenka and concludes that it will be impossible to reach an agreement with the current Belarusian authorities, informs UNIAN.
