Belarusians making stock of sugar and sunflower oil

Belarusian State Food Industry's representatives claim the prices for both sugar and oil will remain the same for the next three months for sure. However, the citizens, who are expecting the downfall of rouble rate, obviously distrust such promises.

People almost emptied the shelf with sunflower oil in one of Minsk stores an hour before the store was closed, a TUT.by reader Hanna writes.

"When I approached the shelf there was very little sunflower oil on it. A man and a woman spent a lot of time trying to choose oil for themselves, then took three different bottles and left. I managed to take a picture of an empty shelf by my cell phone. However, the store's employee arrived and refilled the shelf. All the customers who stood in a queue behind me bought sunflower oil", — Hanna says.

A TUT.by reader Aliaksandr Kishkurna has written about the possible increase of prices for sugar: "I came round to a shop on my way home and saw people grabbing whole bags of sugar, as much as they could carry. I also bought 5 kilos. They say it will cost 8000 roubles for a kilo soon".
