Belarusian national female hockey team to be created on "Pantera" base

"Victoria-86" from Brest defeated "Maladechna" 6:0 in the Belarusian female football championship game on April 20. The Bresters were so focused on the game also because their club had managed to overcome its financial problems: a week ago the very existence of the Brest team had been under threat…

“We'll play! — the club's director Aleh Bushmelyou has assured Euroradio. — Regional budget provided us a non-interest-bearing credit. We'll receive it soon and solve the issues of food, equipment etc. We hope everything will be allright this season”.

However, the players have not received their salaries so far. One of the players says that, nevertheless, the team has become more optimistic:

“It seems like the problems are about to be solved, help is on the way, as promised. They haven't given us salaries yet but they promise to do it in the nearest future. The players are cheering up”.

It's not just footballers who have financial difficulties. Hockey also faces certain problems connected with money, although hockey is considered to be the Presidential kind of sport. Minsk "Pantera", founded back in 2010, won the open championship of Latvia. However, the players have not become any richer, the team's chief coach Vasil Pankou says.

“We go on vacation since April 15. There have been financial problems in the last several months. Salaries have not been paid in due time. As for equipment, everything's good. We bought it earlier, before the crisis, when there were no currency problems. When we created the team we bought uniform, counting on the future. Players come and go. We have enough pieces of uniform for new players as well”.

We would like to believe that "Victoria-86" football team will also survive this season and will not disappear. However, we can only guess on the further perspectives of the Brest club.
