Ales Byalyatski turns 50!

Ales Byalyatski's friends and allies are holding a party on his birthday on September 25. Writers, historians, philosophers and human rights defenders will meet in the gallery of contemporary art "Ў". Among the guests there will be Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, Vintsuk Vyachorka, Harry Pahanyayla, members of the Belarusian Association of Journalists and the Union of Belarusian Writers. 

Ales Byalyatski is known not only as a human rights defender, president of the HR center "Vyasna", and vice-president of the International Federation of Human Rights. In 1986 he was one of the creators of the Young Writers Association "Tuteyshyya", and headed this association later. In 1988 he was a co-founder of the association "Martyralyoh Belarusi" and was a member of the steering committee of the Belarusian Popular Front.

In 1990, Ales Byalyatski became one of the organizers of the Belarusian Catholic Assembly, in 1992-1996 he was a member of Minsk city council. In 1989-1998 he worked as a director of the Literature Museum named after Maxim Bahdanovich, Radio Liberty informs.
