Aleh Savich is beaten: we were ordered to turn away

Euroradio: Where were you detained and delivered, were you beaten too?

Savich: “Policemen drove me away from the threshold of the Palace of Trade Unions at about 8.30 p.m. I went away and found myself between the Great Patriotic War Museum and the Palace of Trade Unions. There were several people watching everything. One of the people who were in charge of the operation approached me with a portable radio transmitter and said: “Follow me”. And he said something like that: “one more”. I was led to the bus, they wrote down my personal information, there were no other detained in the bus at first, and there were only two or three special police officers. Then they started delivering young people. The policemen kept asking how many detained there were. I saw them push Vova Laptseu into the bus. They started beating him severely. The man who was writing down our personal information ordered us to turn away so that we could not see what was going on there. But we could hear them beating him with something iron – he was gasping. Then they led him out and continued beating him. Androsenka was sitting next to me and he said that the actions were illegal and added that he was studying the international law in the Netherlands. Maybe the word “Netherlands” affected the policeman that way, but he did not manage to finish the phrase as the crazy man started beating him. I was beaten too. I was wearing a cap and they hit me twice. A policeman hit me in the belly when we were standing next to the wall in the District Department of the Interior”.

Euroradio: Will you take part in such actions after everything you saw there, after the beating and detentions?

Savich: “I will. All the detained were really angry at the disrespect and outrage demonstrated in this police state when they were let off”.
