50-60 people queue for safe deposit boxes in all banks
The banks admit that people have started drawing out money from their bank accounts during the foreign currency crisis to store it in safe deposit boxes.
A Euroradio reporter has tried to rent a safe deposit box. But there are almost no vacant boxes anywhere. The ones that are still available are small.
There are no safe deposit boxes in one of the affiliates of “Belarusbank”. The employees say that two boxes were vacated last week but they were rented immediately.
They advised that the Euroradio reporter should try the other affiliates situated in Surhanau Street and in the business centre “XXI century”.
Any safe deposit box costs 28800 roubles a month in “Trust-Bank”. However, there have been no vacant boxes for a week or a week and a half.
