Putin and Medvedev to arrive in Minsk today

The Supreme Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia will gather in Minsk on February 25. Russian President Vladimir Putin and PM Dmitry Medvedev will take part in it.

The meeting will be held in the Independence Palace.

The idea to organize the union summit in Minsk was suggested by Alyaksandr Lukashenka in the middle of January. It was supported in Moscow. The participants are planning ‘to revive cooperation in the union state'.  The union budget for 2016 will be approved and the results of trade and economic cooperation will be discussed at the meeting.

The previous meeting of the Supreme Council was held in Moscow on March 3, 2015.
