Prosecutor General warns students, parents about provocations from drug dealers

Генпракурор папярэдзіў студэнтаў і іх бацькоў пра магчымыя правакацыі

Belarus's Prosecutor General has warned students and their parents about possible provocations. Provocations may be prepared by drug dealers, Alyaksandr Kanyuk said on Belarus 1 TV channel.

A student approached him after a lecture and showed him a SMS message on his phone, Kanyuk recalled. Some people offered him good money for the distribution of drugs. “It is very difficult to find and reveal drug dealers,” the Prosecutor General said.

The punishment for drug dealing is very strict in Belarus – it even affects teenagers aged 14, Kanyuk added. “We understand that people may not  fully understand what they are doing at the age of 14 or 15 but the strict punishment is not going to be changed any time soon,” BELTA quotes Alyaksandr Kanyuk.

The MIA has suggested releasing minor drug dealers earlier if there are valid reasons for it, the Prosecutor General reminded.
