Poroshenko to meet with Putin, Lukashenka and Ashton in Minsk

The news came from the press service of President Petro Poroshenko. It is reported that during a telephone conversation with the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, Petro Poroshenko invited the EU delegation to the meeting in Minsk. Barroso said that Belarus will be visited by the head of European diplomacy Catherine Ashton, EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger and EU Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht.

The report implies that the President of Ukraine accepted the invitation of the Presidents of the Customs Union countries to meet in Minsk on 26 August. Poroshenko also informed Barroso about terrorists shelling the organized convoy of civilians, which left Lugansk under a white flag. President of the European Commission condemned the heinous crime of terrorists and called for the immediate objective investigation of the tragedy. 

According to Ukrainskaya Pravda, President of Ukraine accepted the invitation of the "Eurasian Three" presidents for the  meeting in Minsk on August 26. As explained by the deputy head of the Presidential Administration Valeryi Chaly, "Eurasian Three" will also be presented by the Heads of State. 

Chaly thanked the EU for "unprecedented step of the three Commission members at the same time in the direction of this meeting." 

"We believe that it is a format that, to put it carefully, can lead us to the road map that could eventually take the situation of war to peace. Though there are no guarantees at the moment, interaction on economy, trade, energy can lead to the implementation of the Poroshenko peace plan," said Chaly
