The talks between Belarus and the European Union are hampered by the failure to agree on the number of consuls required at the embassies, Poland’s Ambassador in Minsk Artur Michalski told tut.by.

The Polish envoy says that after the visa regime is eased, there will be more people willing to obtain a EU visa. "We will need more consuls. We thought we would have found understanding with the Belarusian partners but suddenly the problems arose, " Ambassador Michalski explains.

Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei recently said that ‘some new issues’ constantly arise during the talks between Belarus and the EU on the re-admission and the visa-regime facilitation. According to Mr Makei, those new issues are constantly brought up by the EU member states.
