Poland to reconsider sanctions imposed on Belarus
Polish diplomats are discussing the possibility of lifting or weakening the economic and political sanctions imposed on Belarus with their colleagues from other EU member states.
The deputy Minister of Internal Affaires of Poland Pyotr Stahanchik informed about it. According to him, the sanctiones against Belarus have not given the expected result.
A Russian edition “Novyye Izvestiya” quotes a representative of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affaires who says that the sanctions only strengthened the position of Moscow in Belarus.
Polish diplomats are going to convince EU member states that Belarus should be included in the programme of “eastern partnership”. They think that the autumn elections to the House of Representatives can become the begging of “a thaw” in the relations between the EU and Belarus.
